Oryx and Crake, by Margaret Atwood. The Giver and Messenger by Lois Lowry. The first two are must reads for anyone interested in dystopian lit. No comment on Messenger.
Finished ‘Two‘ (>4000 words). Undecided about the title. Have put down SmartWare for awhile.
Watched King’s It again. Strange viewing it after all these years. The acting, dialogue, direction is really poor, but when we first watched it all those years ago, we really thought it was excellent.
Off schedule this week. A warning to those whose schedule gets interrupted: it sometimes takes a couple days to get back on schedule. A two day break ends up being four days of writing time lost.
Not a good week. Cool moments coming though. I can feel it.
We have no more cobblers or typewriter repair people, but I read an article a couple of years ago that said a few people in India are still using typewriters.
I inherited by grandmother’s typewriter. It was an old Remington. A big, heavy black thing that never broke. The one she wrote her song lyrics on.
Haven’t thought about it for a long time, but I think the Remington was left in California when we moved. I have no idea where it is.
Thought about writing a short story about an old Remington found, imbued with some kind of mysterious life of its own. It would type out weird, cryptic messages to the finder and eventually drive him insane.
